Diabetes is in the forefront in this issue. Perhaps this is because it is so prevalent and we really need to take responsibility for our own health at all levels: education, prevention and treatment.
Darcy Cuff, from the healthy heart Program at St. Paul’s Hospital shares with us information about some exciting research she is conducting for her PhD thesis regarding exercise and diabetes.I had the pleasure of hanging out with one of her exercise classes during filming for our type 2 diabetes video. I barely managed to keep up and was inspired by how much these women were enjoying their aerobic and strength training programs. Thank you to Darcy and to the Group.
My article flows naturally from Darcy’s and expands on issues of type 2 diabetes diagnosis, screening programs and preventing type 2 diabetes.
Cheryl Wertman brings us this issue’s recipe, a wonderful variation of the popular Shepherd’s Pie. I’ve tasted this one and it really is scrumptious.
